A major political battle is brewing within the Trinamool Congress as rebel MPs led by Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar stake a claim to the party’s iconic ‘Jora Ghas Phul’ symbol. The dissident faction argues that it represents the “real” Trinamool Congress and has informed the Lok Sabha Speaker of its intention to function as a separate parliamentary bloc. The development comes amid an escalating split within the TMC, raising questions over the future of Mamata Banerjee’s leadership and control over the party’s name and symbol. If the dispute reaches the Election Commission, the poll body could determine which faction represents the original party or even freeze the symbol if the matter remains contested.
